When we arrived in City Hall on November 28, 2017 we promised to open up City Hall. To either knock down those thick alabaster walls or kick open doors locked — real or perceived — for residents.

In 2025, we launched our 7th class of the City of Birmingham’s ACE (Academy of Civic Engagement) program. ACE takes our residents on a 7-week journey through city priorities, staffing, operations, and policy. More than 1,200 residents have graduated from ACE since the summer of 2019.

ACE is one of the most visible and accessible points of entry for citizens of Birmingham.
